On January 5, 2022, an amazing $63.2 Crore Powerball Jackpot was scooped by 2 winning tickets from Sacramento & Winsconsin. The winning numbers of that draw were 6, 14, 25, 33, 46 and the Powerball was 17.
These lucky Powerball winners came forward to claim their shares and here is their stories:
Oneida Nation Winners
Tammy and Cliff Webster, purchased their $31.63 Crore winning ticket at a Jackson Pointe Citgo in Green Bay earlier this year.
Tammy declared: “We are sincerely grateful for this incredible event. We always believed that we had a chance to win if we played and this is a dream come true.”
To which, Cliff added: “This is a wonderful blessing, and we are incredibly thankful and most appreciative of this opportunity,”
They chose the Cash option of $22.15 Crore. After taxes (federal taxes of $5.4 Crore and state taxes of $1.72 Crore), they are walking away with slightly over $15 Crore.
The Jackson Pointe Citgo received a $1,00,000 incentive for selling the winning ticket.
“To know that it is someone that is regular and not just a customer passing through for like the weekend game or something it just makes it even more exciting that we can share in that joy with one of our locals,” said Kristy Sommers, the assistant manager at the gas station.
The Websters are Native Americans and both are members of the Oneida Nation. Tammy is part Oneida and part Sioux, and Cliff is Oneida.
Tammy remembered: “I got up, I was getting ready for work. I had my coffee, watched the 4:30 news. The news said they had two winners. I felt all sad and they said they had one in California, one in Wisconsin,”
Cliff said: “You know, how many people play in Wisconsin? What’s the odds of us winning? I got my number out and started looking at it. I noticed my second number matched, there were some numbers that matched and I couldn’t believe it like, ‘This cannot be the Powerball,’. I couldn’t believe it. I just sat there staring at it. And she she was in the recliner. And she’s looking at me and I don’t tell her that we won and I couldn’t believe it. It was, it’s unbelievable. You don’t know what to do!”
In Wisconsin the law requires lottery winners to be identified publicly, but they can choose not to do a news conference. The Websters chose not to participate to the news conference.
Tammy said about their win: “We are very happy about this and I want to thank grandfather, to Creator God, for giving us this great gift. Anybody could win. Just be thankful for what you have and be happy and maybe good things will come because it came for us,”
A friend of the couple described Tammy as always smiling and her husband Cliff as a kind gentleman.
This lovely couple split the $63.2 Crore jackpot with an other winner in Sacramento, California.
Sacramento player wins big after spending just $2 on a ticket!
Zavalo Lozano paid just $2 and scooped the other half of the $63.2 Crore jackpot! He purchased his ticket at a 7-Eleven on the corner of Wyndham Drive and Valley Hi Drive in Sacramento, California.
Lozano has decided to take the lump sum of cash worth $22.51 Crore before taxes.
Alva V. Johnson, Director of the California State Lottery, said in a press release: “Whether a player hits a big jackpot, wins a smaller prize, or doesn’t win any cash at all – rest assured it’s still a win-win for the community and for California,”
Moreover, the 7-Eleven where Lozano purchased his winning ticket received a $10 Lakh bonus for selling the ticket.
Harprit Dhillon, the 7-Eleven store owner declared: “Foot traffic has increased along with sales since we sold the winning ticket,”. He also added: “Lottery games are great for small businesses, and we love selling them.”
